What is EMDR? EMDR is a highly researched treatment method based on a theory that our brains have a natural framework for healing. EMDR is a highly regarded treatment and is given a strong recommendation by the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies, the U.S. Department of Defense, Veterans Affairs Office. The American Psychological Association (APA) in 2017 identified EMDR as a suggested form of treatment for trauma, with the understanding that additional research may result in a stronger endorsement.
